A FORMER PRESIDENT AND

BOARD MEMBER

DUANE "DUKE" EARL PARK

PASSED AWAY SATURDAY 1-18-14

He was 79 Years Old

He had been a devoted member to the club and conservation for most of his life!!!!

He will be remembered and missed by all who's lives he had touched!!!

Obituary and picture can be seen in Special Notices Links

I have been up all night thinking about this post and what it really means to so many people!!!!!!!!
It is about very very dear friend of mine, who is dying as I write this post. Let me call it SHE even though she has no gender--she is color blind---and she is non racial!!!!!
She is the JEFFERSON TOWN SHIP CONSERVATION CLUB!!!!!!
She is the one true love of my life since the age of 17 and I am 69 today!!!!!
I was advised last evening of signs that had been placed by the drive down to her and out on the main road---of an auction to take place on May 3rd on her grave site.
Was waiting for a meeting next week before I posted this and was not aware of the signs being posted. No biggy---just wanted to put an end to all rumors and e-mails I have had to avoid answering and questions many have ask about her!!!
Upon completion of this auction a knife will be driven deep into her heart as well as mine. She has carried me through 4 divorces---kept me from turning to the bottle to escape those problems as well as pressures of working in management of a highly competitive retail world. She has always been here for me and my kids at the beginning of their lives and some but not all, started growing up here. It was only fitting at the end of my working carrier that I gave something back to her. I started out on her grounds making 27¢ an hour and when she started to bleed hardest I was getting 47¢ an hour and we were told she would be shut down for construction on the grounds and if we were good---they might renew our lease. Needless to say the lease has been canceled and we will soon be homeless, but not heartless.
She paid me in far greater ways than any money could buy. The love I have for her and the water that passes thru her and all the wonderful people I have met over the years and decades of memories that will never be forgotten.
Even though she may dye, her spirit will live on after her. Jefferson Township Conservation Club will continue on after almost 60 years as a group of like minded people working together for the good of the river and the people who live around her.

There has been some money set aside to pay to keep her phone service and web page and face book group going----she is and will still be a non profit organization!!!!
I think I can speak for each Shareholder, Board Member, and club member---it sickens me to anticipate the end result.
There will Never be camping allowed on her grounds again, she will be opened to the public, there will be a port-pot in parking area as well as a dumpster in front of the" clubhouse", which will most likely be torn down!!! At a meeting we had with Nipsco we were informed of a plan to put a fence across both roads going out to the island (as we call it), but it is part of the grounds and you will be able to park in lot in front of clubhouse and walk out there to fish. It was pointed out in this meeting that would keep many seniors as well as physically challenged individuals and families with small toddlers from being able to get out there to fish. For close to 75% of the year there is not enough water to fish the lower roadway and handicapped could not get close to the shallow water that is there due to the steeper bank.
Though that has not been done at this point, I have seen and been told that the DNR has been running anyone they see off of the island if the drove out there---and make them go over and park on the roadway closer to the front of the property. One person was told if people did not stop driving out there---there would be a gate put up at the entry to the island and no one would be allowed out there again. that is second hand info from a pretty good source.

PHONE AND E-MAIL ADDRESS ARE ALL STILL THE SAME. 12-05-13

            WELCOME CONSERVATIONISTS

Welcome to the Jefferson Township Conservation Club website.  We are located on the West-Downstream side of the Oakdale Dam in Carroll County, Indiana.   As a Non-Profit Organization the JTCC, Inc. promotes and maintains a Family Oriented Facility that is beneficial to the local community and statewide conservation groups. We are proud of the contributions and goodwill we are able to share with our community each year to promote Fishing, Hunter Safety Programs and good general conservation practices.

Our organization is also caretaker for the State of Indiana Hufford Trust Habitat Area. This 132-acre plot is a diverse public use wildlife area in our community.

The JTCC, Inc. membership is limited to One Thousand (1,000) members each year and is open to anyone, without restriction, up to the limited number. Each membership receives a key to the Main Access Gate of the Property and understands they are under restrictions of the Rules and Regulations of the Club while on the property.

A Full-Time Caretaker assures members compliance with the rules of the Club, as well as maintaining the grounds, buildings, 20 plus shelters, and clean restroom facilities.

We welcome the general public to our organization or to join us at any of our monthly meetings held at 10:00 AM the 1st Saturday of each month at the club grounds.
